The crown to the best ever season

In May 1993 Crvena zvezda won the second and the last title at the National Championship.
It was a fantastic squad lead by Vlada Vujasinovic, current President Viktor Jelenic, Jugoslav Vasovic, Vaso Subotic, Todor Prlainovic... This was followed by the years of ups and downs, but without trophies in sight. On several occasions the club was about to be shut down, elite competitions would go without the participation of the team the history of which was written down by Jelenic, Ciric, Šapic, Solomun, Petrovic...

Three years ago Crvena zvezda recommenced a new story. Before the start of this season the team had been strengthed by Prlainovic, Pijetlovic, Raden, Šefik and Vapenski. Their ambitions grew and it yielded the results. Crvena zvezda won the Serbia National Championship and thus broke down the series of Partizan wins. They ended up first in the league and final matches with Radnicki resolved the National Championship.
Along with the victories in domestic competition, the Final Four is an extraordinary result of the team expertly lead from the bench by the Coach Dejan Savic, who has also became this year the selector of Serbia men's national water polo team.
The red-and-white team, as well as the Partizan, will have great support from the stands. In such circumstances there is no rival which cannot be beaten. Barceloneta is their opponent in semi-finals. Crvena zvezda has something to say in that match. Besides top players we have mentioned, the experienced Avramovic and Ivoševic will also enter the scene, as well as the players who have boomed this season, the brothers Rašovic and Randelovic.

Zvezda does not have a large management team. Jelenic leads the club, followed by the Director Igor Milojevic and the Secretary Goran Jezdic. This season, one of the Serbian sport hits has every chance to welcome the competition at Banjica with optimism.

ACHIEVEMENTS

In its long history Crvena zvezda has won three titles of SR Yugoslavia champions. Due to the sanctions, the champion squads were not able to play at the world scene. This year, for the first time, they have won the National Championship.
